In order to encourage more outstanding international students to pursue a higher education in Chongqing, facilitate the internationalization of the higher education institutions in Chongqing, Chongqing Municipal Government launches the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship.

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese nationals in good health.

2. Education background and age limit:

Applicants for Bachelor degree must have a Bachelor degree and be under the age of 25.

Applicants for Master degree must have a Bachelor degree and be under the age of 35.

Applicants for Doctor degree must have a Master degree and be under the age of 40.

II. Coverage of Scholarship

The coverage of scholarship should be not longer than the normal years for Doctor/ Master / Bachelor program.

III. Application Procedure

Complete the online application for the “International Students Management system of Chongqing Normal University"

Applicants should Log in to the website of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Chongqing Normal University, register in the “International Students Management system of Chongqing Normal University" (http://foreignstudent.cqnu.edu.cn) and submit the required materials.

IV. Application materials

1. Chongqing Municipal Application form (Attachment 1) and Chongqing Normal University application Form (Attachment 2).

2. Passport copy. An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before March 1, 2024.

3. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students , you should provide a pre-graduation certification. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. Applicants for Bachelor’s degree shall provide notarized transcripts of high school. Applicants for Master’s shall provide notarized transcripts for Bachelor’s degree. Applicants for Doctor’s degree shall provide notarized transcripts for Master’s degree. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.

5. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 1000 words).

6. Applicants shall submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English (Applicants for Master’s or Doctor’s degree should submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.).

7. Applicants for the arts or design program shall provide their own works (such as videos and paintings).

8. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority) filled in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months.

9. No criminal record certification. It is usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application.

10. A general Chinese proficiency test score of 180 in HSK (Level 4) is required for Bachelor degree applicants and 180 in HSK (Level 5) for   Master’s or Doctor’s degree applicants

11. Bank deposit certificate (25,000 RMB in principle)

12. Resume.

V. Approval and Notification

1. Chongqing Normal University will review all the application materials，and conduct a test if necessary. Assessment and selection for admission and for granting scholarship will be made based on merits.
2. The name list of the recommended scholarship candidates will be sent to Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.
3. After the name list is reviewed and approved by Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, the scholarship winners will be notified by the university by the end of June 2023, and Admission Notice, and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) together with other relevant documents will be sent to them in July 2023.
